The Polar Crush is proud to announce that Brian & Jenna Macchi have joined our coaching staff for the 2008 season. Jenna & Brian will lead our player training and development program.
2008 Head Coach - Robyn King Robyn King: - Robyn@PolarCrushSoftball.org Returning for the 2008 season is Robyn King. A Crush alumna, Robyn is one of the leading softball pitching/hitting instructors in the New England region. A 2001 graduate of Boston University, Robyn was an outstanding pitcher and offensive player, twice earning All-New England honors. She is 2nd in BU's all-career record for innings pitched, wins, strikeouts and shutouts, and in the top 5 all-career for batting average, at-bats, hits, doubles and slugging percentage. Robyn has pitched professionally in Europe and with the Straford Brakettes, where she registered a 23-4 career record with 230 strikeouts in 192 innings and an ERA of 0.29
2008 Assistant Coach - Jenna Macchi Jenna Macchi: - Joining the Crush for the 2008 season is former Boston College and Polar Crush star, Jenna Macchi. This past season, Jenna led her BC Eagles team in runs scored and made just two errors in 193 chances, for a sterling .990 fielding percentage. She also became first player in school history to record a three-homerun game, against Virginia, and then duplicated the feat just ten days later. Her combination of fielding and hitting skills has led to All-ACC, All ACC Tournament and NFCA All-Northeast honors at BC. During the summer of 2006, Jenna played for the Stratford Brakettes and went on to win the national championship. Jenna was named to the ASA Women's Major Fastpitch first-team All-America and received the ASA Women's Major Fastpitch Defensive Player Award.
2008 Assistant Coach - Brian Macchi Brian Macchi: - Also joining the Crush for the 2008 season is former Boston College baseball standout, Brian Macchi. A 2002 graduate, Brian remains among both the single-season and career leaders in all major hitting categories at BC. His combination of defensive and offensive skills led to All-Big East, Rawlings All-Northeast and NEICBL All-New England selections. During his senior year, Brian was the reciprient of the Eagle of the Year Award. This award is given annually to one male and one female student-athlete who is an outstanding citizen, leader, scholar and athlete. It is the most prestigious honor that the athletic department bestows upon a student athlete.
